Lemonade ?

“Lemonade… That cool, refreshing drink.”
– Eddie Murphy, Delirious

Since laid out by a fever after work the other day, finally got around to watching Beyoncé’s Lemonade ?. It is a beautifully visualized and a surprisingly relatable film, I must admit. I now have several new favorite quotes thanks to this visual album.

It’s amazing how much destruction occurs when only one out of a mutual promise tries to fulfill said promise. How sad that, “Every promise don’t work out that way.”

In my personal experience, when that tree falls in that forest, it does not make a sound. It only screams in thick silence, for those who should hear do not choose to listen.

“All the loving I’ve been giving goes unnoticed; it’s just floating in the air. Looky there. Are you aware?”

Yeah, I now that one too well. #db

The more personal Beyoncé dove, the more I could relate:
“You are terrifying. And strange. And beautiful.” #tf
“Every promise don’t work out that way.” (Love that song, by the way. ?)
“If we’re gonna heal, let it be Glorious.” #db
“Why do you consider yourself undeserving? Why are you afraid of love? You think it’s not possible for someone like you. But you are the Love of My Life.” #tf

And this one, which only led me down the path of my former married life’s memories:

“God was in the room when the man said to the woman, ‘I love you so much, wrap your legs around me and pull me in, pull me in.'”

Bittersweet nostalgia is all that is left. Remnants of the Glory that once was. Karma is She who listens now. #db

And of course, the instant classic:

“Ashes to ashes. Dust to sidechicks.”

Bartering

barter |ˈbärtər|
verb [ with obj. ]
exchange (goods or services) for other goods or services without using money: he often bartered a meal for drawings | [ no obj. ] : the company is prepared to barter for sweet almond oil.
noun
the action or system of exchanging goods or services without using money: it will be paid for by a mixture of barter and cash.
• the goods or services used in bartering: I took a supply of coffee and chocolates to use as barter.

I am very pleased to note that the barter system – in use for millennia, yet much decreased in popularity since capitalism and cash came to fore – is still alive and often does quite well in small (or smaller) towns.

Lately I find myself often trading my time and skills in return for what would otherwise cost me monies I don’t have available, usually through something that I find simple enough to do with little thought, yet a task that would be grotesquely time-consuming for someone who can’t afford to take that time away from other projects with higher priority. An additional plus for me is that I often get to learn something about what I’m doing that I wouldn’t have otherwise, and can now include the new skill in my repertoire. Sweet! ?

Now… I wonder how much computer/web design time I’d need to barter in exchange for this sweet beastie…

Then again, why stop at merely a vehicle when there are other items of importance to be had, such as a home in Bozeman, Montana, home of ever-increasing real estate property values…

One never knows; could be worth a shot. Never hurts to ask, right? ?
